The Scholarship
The Jane L. (Hoffman) Chickering Scholarship was created to further advance the higher education of Girl Scouts in Harbor Springs and Petoskey, Michigan. This $1000.00 renewable, four year scholarship is available to any registered Girl Scout in the Harbor Springs/Petoskey area that meets all the eligibility requirements and submits a completed application by May 1st each year. (Applicants interested in renewing the scholarship must resubmit a completed application each year.)

Scholarship Eligibility
Be a registered Girl Scout through Girl Scouts of Crooked Tree Council.
Reside in Petoskey or Harbor Springs, Michigan.
Be a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient from Girl Scouts of Crooked Tree within the past six years from the date of scholarship application.
Have been a regsitered Girl Scout for a minimum of 5 years, with at least 2 of those years as a Girl 11-17.
Be a high school senior, graduate, or equivalent.
Be accepted in a program at an institution of higher learning or a vocational program.
Maintain a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Maintain enrollment in courses on a full-time basis, or at least half-time with a pro-rated scholarship award.
Agree to participate (during the scholarship year) in at least one presentation to younger Girl Scouts to encourage them to seek higher education.

Leadership experience
Extra-curricular high school activities
Letters of recommendation from at least three (3) people, including one academic and one Girl Scouting

The application and renewal deadline is May 1st of each year. All decisions made by the scholarship committee are final.
